Summer and other seasons just seem to slip by faster than a banana peel, when life takes you down a path of uncertainty. . .
As some of you know, my Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier this year, and has since been moved to a nursing home, as his medical needs were too overwhelming for my 89 year old Mom to handle.
The days blur into weeks, then months. My Dad has lost so much weight, that he is a skeleton of his former self. He still retains his humour, but the light in his eyes are starting to fade. No one is telling the family the end is near, but we all know that it is.
My sisters and I take turns bringing my Mom to visit, and try to keep a brave face. Due to her short term memory, she does not remember most of the information about Dad's health and often wonders why he cannot return home. Their 63rd wedding anniversary is in September, and they still greet each other with a kiss on the lips.
I did manage to take a week's holiday with my husband at the end of July and am sorting through my photos for something to share. Here is a photo of Osoyoos, where we vacationed - with Osoyoos Lake in the background, and the orchards in green, with the desert sagebrush in the foreground. I took this photo at a viewpoint called "Anarchist Mountain", so named for the hair-pin twists and turns as you climb it.
