Courage

Over thirty years ago when I was attending university, I noticed a strange sight on the running track as I was finishing my aerobics class in the gym. My girlfriend and I saw a young man sit down on the grass and put on a prosthetic leg, leaning carefully over to tie up his running shoes. He got up and started to hop with one leg, then kick out with the other - forcing the wooden leg in front of him as he strode around the field. We would see this same sight a couple of times a week until we asked someone what he was doing. We were told that he was training for a run across the country to raise money for cancer research. This man was called Terry Fox.

In case you weren't aware, Vancouver is currently hosting the 2010 Paralympic Games from March 12 - 21st in both Vancouver and Whistler. People have been complaining loudly that the TV stations are not showing enough of these courageous athletes battling for their medals. . . Pity.

Here is a link to watch some of the sporting events for those of you who are still in the Olympic spirit. (((HUGS)))

Thank you Rose. Long may they run and jump. When I had money I would give some to the Special Olympics.
